Entry 4/ Fourth Episode

At the end of the third episode, Becca was told that the man who killed her husband has taken Michael.Dax Miller, chief of the CIA’s Paris office, discovers a man with a burn mark on his arm in a video of Michael right before the car exploded in Vienna. The CIA identifies the man as a former Israeli agent-turned-assassin for hire who would not have worked for the Russians because his parents died in the gulag. That contradicts what Martin Newman, Becca’s mentor in the CIA, tells her in a flashback when he brings Michael home after her husband, Paul, was killed. In the flashback, Martin blames Russian intelligence for Paul’s death and admits that Paul was on a CIA mission in Vienna, though Becca says he would not have put their son into danger. When Martin says he insisted that Paul complete the mssion, Becca banishes him from her life. Now, Becca and Dax head to Berlin to talk to Martin and find out why he lied to her about who was responsible for Paul’s death. Martin, who has become an author of spy novels, admits that Paul was a traitor who had joined a group of rogue agents from the U.S.’s enemies. He insists on going with Becca and Dax to Dubrovnik, Croatia, where they have traced the man with the burn mark.In another flashback,Becca tells Paul that she is pregnant and he subsequent proposes marriage: “Are you busy this afternoon?” Becca also tells Paul that she doesn’t know how to be a good parent because she was raised in foster homes. And she and Martin discuss her “trust issues” even as he reassures her that she and Paul are “the best of us.”Meanwhile, Michael, who is being held in a castle in Poland or Russia, explores the premises as he tries to figure out where he is. Oksana, a young woman also being held there, continues to warn Michael that the people holding them are dangerous. He taunts their guard and when the guard takes no action against him, Michael tells Oksana that someone must have ordered that he not be harmed. However, after the guard catches Michael with a set of keys, a bloodied Oksana is brought to him and they conclude that she will suffer for his misdeeds. In Dubrovnik, Becca confronts the man with the burn mark. He says he’ll tell her who kidnapped Michael if he gets immunity and a new identity. But when she goes to meet him, she finds his body on the floor.Becca then chases a man through the crowded streets and along the seawall only to discover that she is chasing her “dead” husband. He jumps into the sea as she doesn’t know whether to laugh or cry. Then, Becca starts to remember her wedding as she reads the redacted file on Paul that Dax has managed to get from CIA headquarters in Washington. Dax’s contact there urges him to watch Becca closely to see if she might have known Paul was alive all along. The episode concludes with Dax showing Becca a photo of Michael at a soccer game two weeks before he was kidnapped. Two rows behind him is Paul. Which likely means that her husband has her son.
